How Does the Invisalign Process Work?

When you’re ready to upgrade your smile, it’s simple to get started. The first step is to call The Maryland Center for Complete Dentistry at (410) 356-8400 to schedule an appointment at our Owings Mills, MD, office. You can also follow this link to schedule online.


At your appointment our dentist, Dr. Jonathan Silverman, and his friendly team will examine the current state of your teeth and your overall oral health. This will ensure your teeth and gums are healthy enough for Invisalign treatment. 


If you are a good candidate for Invisalign, the next step will be to create a computerized 3D model of your teeth using a special imaging device. Dr. Silverman will be able to use this 3D model to show you how your teeth will straighten with the clear aligners. He will also be able to give you an estimate of how much time it will take to achieve your new smile. 


This 3D model will be used to create your custom-made aligners. Once your Invisalign aligners are ready, Dr. Silverman will show you how to put them on, take them off, and keep them clean. 


You will wear the clear aligners for about 20 hours every day, removing them only to eat and brush your teeth. Every few weeks, you will receive a new set of aligners to wear. As you go through your treatment process, your aligners will slowly push your teeth into the correct positions. 


Once your treatment is complete, you will get to go show off your beautiful new smile to the world!

  • Is Invisalign painful?
