Welcome to Your Best Smile

The Maryland Center for Complete Dentistry is located in Owings Mills, MD. We are dedicated to bringing your smile out. Our practice, under the care of Dr. Silverman, offers a wide range of dental services, including dental bridges.

Dental Bridges: An Overview

Is your smile complete? It may be spoiled by one or more missing teeth. A properly fitting dental bridge can be used as a replacement. It effectively “bridges” the gap left by a missing tooth. Dr. Jonathan Silverman, of Owings Mills, MD, can fit you with a dental bridge to restore your smile after you lose one or more teeth.

Dental bridges are usually made of metal, porcelain, or ceramic. Since it’s made with a color matched to your natural teeth, no one will know it’s an artificial tooth. Your ability to chew and speak can also be improved. So go ahead and smile!

Why Choose Dental Bridges

  • Revamp Your Smile: Missing or damaged teeth can make you feel less confident. Dental bridges can restore the natural brilliance of your smile.
  • Eat and Speak With Ease: Gaps between your teeth can make it difficult to chew and talk. Bridges can restore functionality and make everyday activities more enjoyable.
  • Maintain Your Face Shape: Missing or missing teeth can cause the remaining teeth to shift and change your facial shape. Bridges maintain your facial structure.
  • Dental bridges can last for many years with proper care. They are an excellent investment for your oral health.

Dental Bridges in Use Today

Dentists today use one of four types of dental bridges:

  • The most common, a traditional fixed bridge, is made of two or more crowns and connected filler teeth. The bridge is cemented in place.
  • An implant-supported bridge is like the traditional bridge but uses dental implants rather than cement to hold the bridge in place.
  • A cantilever bridge is connected to one tooth and may be used if you have a tooth on one side of the gap but not the other.
  • A resin-bonded bridge is frequently used for missing front teeth.

Replace Missing Teeth as Soon as Possible

It is important to replace missing teeth not only to maintain your appearance but also your oral health. We'll explore the importance of addressing tooth loss.

Stops Tooth Movement and Misalignment

The adjacent teeth may start to move into the space left by a missing tooth. This can lead to misalignment and make it hard to speak or chew properly. The crowding of teeth that results from teeth shifting out of position can make them difficult to clean and increase the risk of gum disease and cavities. Also, gaps between teeth can grow, increasing the area where bacteria and food particles can be trapped.

Long-Term Health Benefits

Missing teeth can be a serious health issue in the long run. Early replacement of missing teeth can help prevent oral health problems, saving you money and time in the future. Maintaining good oral hygiene is also linked to overall health. Poor oral health has been linked with systemic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and respiratory infections. Healthy teeth contribute to a better overall state of health.

Understanding the importance of replacing missing teeth will help you take proactive measures to improve your quality of life, your oral health, and your appearance. At The Maryland Center for Complete Dentistry, Dr. Silverman, and his team, are here to assist you in achieving and maintaining a healthy and beautiful smile.

Dental Bridges:  What to Expect

The dental bridge process begins with the creation of a treatment plan tailored to your mouth. You and Dr. Silverman will discuss anchoring your dental bridge with existing teeth or dental implants. If your existing teeth are healthy enough, they can be used as anchors. Dr. Silverman may recommend using a dental crown to strengthen your teeth. Dental impressions will be taken and you may be fitted with a temporary dental bridge.

Your permanent bridge will be placed in your mouth during another appointment. If a temporary bridge was used, it will be removed first. Once Dr. Silverman places the new bridge, he may adjust it for a comfortable and proper fit. Your new bridge will give you back a healthy smile and can improve your quality of life.
